The Ultimate Eco Chair Concept by Decker + Yeadon

If there is award for the most economical design, the design of this chair will certainly be a winner. This chair may be the ultimate eco chair concept. It really no need new materials. Just cut a hole in an existing wood floor or surface and putting your foot in the hole. But be careful, to secure to avoid splinters you have to uses of extra material, such plastic to line the hole before you drop a leg in. Simply seat work. This ultimate eco chair concept design might be silly, but this is a serious design worked out by Decker and Yeadon from New York.

Decker and Yeadon realize that buildings are the biggest source of energy waste in the world. They find that seating elements are no small part of the problem. Whether be for green reasons or cost-saving purposes, it is worth considering how much time, power and materials is used in these simplest of interior design objects. Our floors and surfaces, however, are ready and waiting to be turned into voids into which we can slot our legs. Dare to join Decker and Yeadon challenge ?.

Soft Clouds Seating Which Look Fluffy by Jason Phillip

It was ten years ago, when all my bags was packed I flew on Qantas Airlines headed towards my country, and while on the sky high I opened up the curtain and see how beautiful the clouds are. And my imagination was running wild, I was wondering how would it feel like to lay and sit upon the clouds? Wouldn’t it feel fluffy and soft? And it might be the softest things that you ever sit on. Well, I do not need to day dream now, as Jason Phillips has designed this fiberglass seating furniture inspired by cumulus clouds that seem infinite in configuration. This high quality fiberglass reinforced with stonecast inner wall of clouds are just great to be put outside and inside. These soft clouds seating idea is available in white color, black and bronze just perfect for your lounge chair and love seat.

Amazing Chord Chair by Nendo

Amazing! That’s how I appreciate this Chord Chair made by collaborating with Hiroshima Prefecture manufacturer Maruni Wood Industry. Why amazing? It’s because this chair look like a usual ordinary chair but what looks unusual is that this chair has legs only 15 mm in diameter. Rather than assembling wood panel around 9mm steel frame, Nendo and others decided to hollow out pieces of wood to clad each of the frame. Since each part is only 3 mm wide, the chair must be made by hand. It liberates wood from structure, allowing the material’s natural warmth and softness to come into sharp focus, and bringing out its greatest common denominator. This is definitely a beautiful combination between materials like the metal wiring within an electrical cord and the rubber that encases it.

Anna Ter Haar Cinderella Chair

ived an unhappy young girl. Her mother was dead and her father had married a widow with two daughters. Her stepmother didn’t like her one little bit. For the poor unhappy girl, there was nothing at all. No dresses, only her stepsisters’ hand-me-downs. No lovely dishes, nothing but scraps. No rest and no comfort. She had to work hard all day. Only when evening came was she allowed to sit for a while by the fire, near the cinders“. That’s why everybody called her….

I am very sure that story above is common to hear. Yes, it’s cinderella story, but we won’t be story telling here. If you look at this glass, don’t you remind of a similarity in cinderella story of how she lost her slipper and prince “charming” ordered his guards to find who’s shoe does it belong to. This cinderella chair is not slipper, but it’s actually a prothesis blown glass. Each of these glasses are custom fit to specific chair. Indeed it’s fragile but it doesn’t mean that you can’t sit on this chair, because the new legs are strong enough to carry down any weights of yours. To find out more please refer to the Anna Ter Haar’s web.
